Sheffield Friends of the Earth meetings are
usually held at 8 p.m. at the
Red Deer pub,
18 Pitt Street. This is near to the University of Sheffield just off West Street
(See map below). Most meetings take place in the upstairs meeting room which is
in a smoke free environment. If the room has already been booked by a different
group then we will meet downstairs in the main pub. Please phone a
co-ordinator if you require more details or want to check that a meeting is
taking place.
We usually spend about 2 hours talking about
latest issues and planning campaigns etc. We sometimes invite representative of
other groups or campaigns to come along and tell us what they're up to. Everyone
is welcome, no matter what your occupation is, or what time you have. Whether
you're working, unemployed, retired or a student, your skills and enthusiasm can
help make Sheffield FoE more effective.

Members of Sheffield Friends of the Earth at a recent meeting
You don't have to be an expert - there are plenty
of ways that anyone can help out, from running stalls, distributing leaflets,
putting up displays and organising raffles and street collections, to writing
letters, giving talks, planning media stunts or helping keep the books. If you
want to gain more in depth knowledge about the issues, our specialist campaign
staff can provide information, training and advice - it's your chance to share
ideas and learn new skills.
If you are under 18 years of age then you are
able to attend meetings so long as you are accompanied by an adult. So
it's probably best to phone the
co-ordinator so that a group member can meet up with you before
entering the pub.
